The difference between the Companions (R.A.) and the muslim ummah today boils down to two defining factors.
1. The Companions only strived for Jannah, while we also strive for Jannah
2. The Companions would do something because it is from the Sunnah, while we leave something because it is from the Sunnah, and not the Fardh.

In Muslim and Bukhari: “The believer eats with one stomach while the kafir eats with seven stomachs.” Meaning: The believer eats with the manners of Islam and in moderation, while the karif eats based on desires and gluttony and so he eats with seven stomachs.

Did you know that the sentence that you can say without moving your lips is : LA ILAHA ILLALLAH ? and the wisdom behind that, is that when a person is Dying he can possibly lose the ability to move his lips , so Allah made it easy for him/her to say Shahada before his DEATH. “So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?” [Quran 55:13]
